  • Objectives: To explore some of the indicators that shape the quality of prenatal care in the region.a sample of records of Colombian pregnant women, obtained from secondary sources. Comparecontributory (rc) and subsidised (rs) membership schemes in terms of access, safety and security.according to the standard for Colombia, between 2007 and 2009. Materials and methods: Studycross-sectional observational descriptive, using the sufficiency study databases.of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection (msps), the Individual Benefit Register(rips) and the vital records of the National Department of Statistics (dane). ItWe calculated descriptive measures and compared results between rc and rs. Results: There werestatistically significant differences in care received between rc pregnant women and rc pregnant women.at least one prenatal check-up, 74.4% in rc and 48% in rs; childbirths.institutional, 98.5% in rc and 97.5% in rs; cesarean delivery, 45.6% in rc and 33% in rs; and alat least one prenatal control, three laboratories and institutional delivery, 45.6% in rc and 23.3% in rs.Conclusions: The prenatal care received by the evaluated pregnant women did not comply in all cases.the national standard that regulates the quality of prenatal care, particularly in the case of a woman.pregnant women affiliated to rs. In the sample studied, there is still a high level of inequity in care.that pregnant women receive between rc and rs in Colombia
