INTRODUCTION The poultry processing industry involves activities where multiple repetitive tasks are required as well as long periods of standing positions. This elevates the risks of musculoskeletal disorders in the upper extremities and lower back thus increasing the absentism in workplaces which affects the incomes of companies and the public health systems. GENERAL OBJECTIVE Identify the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in workers from the administrative and operative areas in one poultry preoccessing company in Bogotá, Colombia from 2014 to july of 2017. MATERIALS AND METHODS Transversal descriptive study. Data analysis of laboral inhabilities in a database from 2014 to july of 2017 (n=537) taking into account sociodemographic variables such as gender and age and occupational variables such as working area, seniority in the position, number of days of laboral inhability and body area of compromise. Descriptive stadistical analysis was performed with measures of central tendency like dispersion and frequency distribution. RESULTS: Out of the total number of workers from the poultry processing company the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders was 19.2%. 60% of patients were male with ages ranging from 19 to 58 years old, where the highest incidence was seen between 30 to 34 years. The most frequently affected body part was the lumbar 61,40% area followed by shoulders 9,30% and upper extremities 10,80%. The prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders for administrative office workers was 1.4% and for operative workers was 17.6%. In terms of laboral inhability the most frequent cause was non specified low back pain with an average number of inhability days of 4,2 for women and 7.5 for men. For the antiquity of charge the average was 6,1 yers old.
