It is based on a quantitative analysis applied to the first hundred companies that had the best incomes for sales during 2013 and 2014, according to Gerente. The following variables are evaluated: total sales, assets, liabilities, equity, and net income. In the first section, an extensive literature review connects the origin of an economic hegemony with the way in which neoliberalism and globalization contributed to shape the actual Colombian industrial structure. The second section explains the methodology for the data analysis. In order to get results, several statistical tools such as lineal correlations, percentile variations and quintiles were used. Finally, the main conclusion is focused on discussing the actual initiatives fostered by the government to enhance a transformation of several industrial sectors, in order to run a first diagnose of the actual state of industry in terms economic growth.
