abstract

  • Objective: Identify the prevalence of bullying and the risk factors that contribute to bullying in private schools in Bogotá (Mixed, Girly or Manly schools). Materials and methods: A descriptive study has been made with a simple random sampling. This study was done by applying a simple poll of ten closed questions to recognize the basic knowledge of the students about bullying, the more common places in which this phenomenon is presented and determine the percentage of the population that determine themselves like bullied, bullies or just witnesses or viewers. Results: There is a generalized level of violence in all three kinds of schools, however, the schools with the most intensity of bullying were the male ones; in these schools the questions about the presence of bullied people had bigger percentages than in the other two kinds of schools. We found that the bullied people and the bullies can do both roles and because of this it is not simple to determine a specific profile for each one of them. Conclusion: The results obtained through the papers rejects the hypothesis of the study, showing that, as the theory reports, men tend to be more aggressive in behavior and therefore more incidence of bullying is presented in schools.
