El liderazgo carismático religioso como elemento fundamental en la permanencia del movimiento independiente de renovación absoluta (MIRA) en el panorama electoral colombiano (2000-2014)

This research aims to explore the effects of religious charismatic leadership on theelectoral performance and survival of the political movement MIRA in Colombia. To dothis, it employs a qualitative methodology which mainly uses depth interviews and nonparticipantobservation, in order to approach to religious practices and political attitudesof the faithful of the Church of God Ministry of Jesus Christ International. From this, itaims to show that there is a relationship between the size of the religious congregation andthe number of votes obtained by the MIRA movement. This, thanks to that the role playedby Maria Luisa Piraquive within her religious community contributes to the legitimizationof the actions of the political movement and to the rising of an active volunteering withinthis, that behaves in a discipline and committed way with the goals of this politicalorganization.
