  • This study reviewed national and international recommendations and itfound that there is not a standardized model which allows to establish afollow up of work place and health conditions in workers exposed toaromatic hydrocarbons: Benzene, Toluene and Xylene (BTX). This studypropose guidelines to implement a medical surveillance program,incorporating clinical and laboratory screening aspects to generateopportune strategies that lead to keep adequate health conditions ofworkers and detect alterations produced by exposition to BTX at areversible stage. Medical surveillance should be adjusted to differentneeds and resources of the industries that use aromatic hydrocarbons intheir processes.
