abstract

  • The aim of the text is to examine the links established between gender and politics in three charitable organizations of Bogotá in the second half of nineteenth century. The study of Congregación de la Caridad, Asociación del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús and Sociedad Protectora de Niños Desamparados from a perspective of gender and politics allow us to capture ambiguities, contradictions and conflicts that were constitutive in the formation of political parties and in the definition of the projects of social order that were in dispute in the political world of nineteenth century.
