This study analyzes the relationship between Disaster Risk Management and Vulnerability, in the settlement Brisas del Volador located in Ciudad Bolivar, Bogota. It explains the transformation in the approach of analysis and management of disasters coming from the consolidation of terms related to social processes like vulnerability and risk. The study also describes the changes in the way Colombia has dealt with disaster risk management, at the national level and in Bogotá. The investigation revealed how vulnerability has been created by the connection of different processes in a specific settlement and how some elements form the global vulnerability. The actions introduced in the study area that are related with risk management, were compile and classified in each of the three processes: knowledge, risk reduction and disaster management. Then they were studied and the ones that were connected with the reduction of vulnerability were described and evaluated.
