  • Objective: To determine the socio-demographic, occupational factors and ergonomic risk factors related to the occurrence of musculoskeletal symptoms pedicab activity in the neighborhood Toberín Usaquén Parish City of Bogotá, to recommend prevention strategies. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional observational study in 150 people working in the pedicab. A simple random sampling was performed. Identifying factors associated with musculoskeletal symptoms was made by applying the Ergopar methodology (Participatory Ergonomics to prevent work-related musculoskeletal disorders) in the group of people who work in the pedicab. The estimated proportion of persons with musculoskeletal disorders in this group of workers and association was explored using the Chi-square or Fisher`s exact test, using a significance level of 5%, with the SPSS 20 program. Results: The results suggested that the pedicab allowed to establish a statistically significant association with factors of age and onset of pain in lower back p value (0, 009), hands/wrists p value (0, 001), legs p value (0, 022), knees p value (0, 001), working time with the onset of pain in elbows p value (0, 013), hours of work with the appearance of discomfort elbows p value (0, 000), and legs p value (0, 002), workdays, with the appearance of discomfort in hands/wrists p value (0, 003), pain in legs p value (0), and pain in knees p value (0, 014), and also physical demands with the appearance of discomfort in hands/wrists p value (0, 002) and pain in legs p-value (0, 044)Conclusion: A relationship was demonstrated between pedicab activity and the occurrence of musculoskeletal symptoms of discomfort/pain in different muscle, segments such as lower back, elbows, hands/wrists, legs and knees
