  • ABSTRACTObjectivesDetermine the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms in workers in a poultry company Cundinamarca in 2013.MethodologyAn observational, descriptive , cross-sectional design was chosen by a method of collecting data through standardized the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (1) tool , demographic data such as age , gender, job title and seniority were added. The analysis in this study was performed using statistical software tool “EPIINFO version3.5.4(2)ResultsOf the total studied in poultry company Cundinamarca population was 229 workers, 65 workers were excluded for less than a year out of work in the company, leaving 164 workers of which corresponded to 36.0% female (n = 58 ) and 64.0% male (n = 105). The mean age was 38.1 ± 9.4 years with a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 56 years. The distribution according to educational level were mainly graduates with 48.8% (n = 80) were primary and 34.8% (n = 57). The prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms in the last 12 months by body segments was more common in the hands and wrists with 65.2%, followed by the lumbar spine segment with 48.0%, by number of involved segments a prevalence of 4 or more segments found 52.2%.ConclusionThe overall prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms in our study although coincident with the literature , evidence on segment level as significant differences in the doll hands, where the seventh national survey of working conditions of the National Institute of Hygiene at Work Spain ( INHT ) reported 10.8% ( 3). In our study, a higher prevalence of symptoms in 4 or more involved segments was found, compared with multisite study Prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms: a French cross -sectional population-based study working reporting a prevalence for 4 or more segments of 27.0 % to 35.0 % (12), which leads us to consider the coexistence of multiple risk factors ergonomic.
