  • Background: Spontaneous abortion is the most common complication during pregnancy, affecting between 12% to 24% of clinically recognizable pregnancies. On the other hand, induced abortions (legal or illegal) in addition to the problem a lot of cases. The abortion is a complex event with important biological and psychological impact on the mental level, particularly anxiety and depression. Nationally there are no studies measuring the prevalence of these symptoms in women with miscarriages. Results: The group of women who met the selection criteria was 112 average age was 30.4 ± 6.1 years and socioeconomic level I (54.1%) and II (38.7%). Symptoms of depression prevalence was 67.9 per cent and anxiety of 12.5%. The prevalence of depressive symptoms decreased significantly to increase the socioeconomic level I (71.7%), II (67.4%) and III (16.7%), (p = 0. 035). Median age of first pregnancy was significantly higher in women with anxiety (25 vs. 19, p = 0. 01). Close to show differences between a history of abortion (p = 0. 084), fewer approved educational years (p = 0. 075) and older patients with anxiety (p = 0. 096).There was no statistically significant differences between the two types of abortion in depressive symptoms or anxiety.
