This research seeks to state a relationship between the contributions of anthropology of the body and anthropology of the dance, through a theorical methodological proposal in which it is shown how the meaning of female bodies is transformed into de the practice of a dance called American Tribal Style (ATS). In this way, the analysis of this investigation takes the body as an unfinished project, gender as a performative act and dance as the space by which these performative acts can be reproduced or questioned. For the methodology I realized a qualitative research in which I made a fieldwork in two dance academies in Bogota where American Tribal Style is taught, and I talked with students and professional dancers of ATS for seek how their experiences into this practice transforms their bodies.
