The case of an Educational Institution in the city of Tunja constitutes a learning opportunity for the management of educational organizations and for leadership in the school education sector. Thus, the purpose of this research was to identify the leadership and management factors that contributed to its success and those that favor its development and growth. As a result, this study will have important practical implications for managers who manage these types of institutions. For its part, the recognition and positioning of the current institution at the local, departmental and national levels are results achieved with the implementation of a successful administration; based on the results of the investigation, it can be affirmed that what is favorable in this case is in part the administrative experience of the new organization and perhaps what most affected the durability of the previous institution was the way in which the services provided were assumed. These findings are discussed in light of the underlying academic concepts. Among the results, the characteristics that an educational leader must have in academic, social, economic, cultural and organizational aspects were found; and the urgent need to turn school educational institutions into intelligent organizations, competitive in their academic offer and in their value proposition, in order to achieve comprehensive excellence, which responds to what an educational organization must provide to society.
