  • JUSTIFICATION Cancer is a public health problem, is one of the leading causes of death worldwide in 2008 accounted for 7.6 million deaths, 13% of the world total in Colombia ranks second after cardiovascular diseases. Required implement interventions for the extent of the disease and develop strategies for reducing impact on clinical, psychological, social and economic. METHODOLOGY Observational retrospective and descriptive study, carried out in patients over 18 years old who are in ambulatory treatment, these patients were treated from January 1st to December 31st 2011 in Asisfarma. RESULTS The 66% are women between the ages of 51 and 65, the diagnosis age is also found in this group, the more frequent types of cancer are breast, colon and rectum cancer, the patients have received radiotherapy and surgery. The most frequent comorbidities are hypertension, hypothyroid, diabetes mellitus, 46% of the population has tried at least one different medicine from chemotherapy. 25.1% of the population participated in the program of Pharmaceutical Attention and Psychology. Close to half of the population attended in the IPS during 2011 are new patients whit breast, colon and rectum cancer. 16% of the patients treated died. CONCLUSIONS In 2011 the epidemiological profile of the cancer patients is done at the IPS, it is clear that it is of most need to keep updated the information with the objective of develop strategies that contribute with the integral treatment of diseases. Strengths and improvement opportunities were identified so an incentive was generated to continue doing research.
