  • The aim of this investigation was to determine the prevalence of work-related stress and its relationship to the quality of life of the public employees in a Colombian Government Institution, 2014 A cross-sectional study was conducted on 234 public employee of an entity of the Colombian State Institution, the instrument were a demographic data sheet, the stress questionnaire battery psicosociales Ministerio de Protección Social and SF 36 in the version validated in Colombia. The relationship between stress scale with the dimensions of quality of life and physical defuncionamiento subscales and mental health subscale were no significant differences (p> 0.05) (Table 2) were found. Trend among the lowest level of stress (very low) and other stress levels higher quality of life in the dimensions of physical role, physical functioning, vitality and close to show significant differences in mental health (p = 0.097) was found.The most common life events that are related to stress in the sample of public servants, are mainly high in physiological symptoms, and social behavior, intellectual and psycho-emotional symptoms. In quality of life assessment found in all dimensions scale had mean scores greater than 50, except in physical functioning. Dimensions with averages over 80 were: bodily pain, role emotional, mental health and social functioning.
