The propose of this text is to describe and analyze the development of a form of peasant collective action which had place in the Colombian Medio Atrato Region, demonstrating that endogenous factors affecting social movements are crucial to its emergence, but also, that its positive effects upon the organization can be countered by the influence of adverse exogenous factors.
