Abstract:Objective: To determine the predictive ability of Sepsis Score Obstetrician (SOS) for Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admission in pregnant and postpartum septic patients.Materials and Methods: An observational, retrospective and analytical cohort study was conducted. SOS was applied in the first 48 hours of sepsis diagnosis in pregnancy and puerperium patients, in the Clinic University Hospital San Rafael (HUCSR) from August 2014 to July 2016. We assessed income or UCI. Results: We were included 284 patients. The income prevalence was: UCI 19.72%; with adjusted OR for association between score SOS ≥ 6 ICU admission 27.23 (95% CI, 11.73 - 63.21). The SOS had an area under the curve of 0.917 (95% CI, .87-.95) for UCI admission. There was significant statistically association between ICU admission with non-obstetric cause of sepsis and positive blood culture. Conclusions: The SOS is a useful tool to promptly identify septic obstetric patients and determine whether management in ICU. Multicenter or prospective studies are needed to future.
