abstract

  • This work is framed within two collective negotiation figures that coexist with both private and public companies in Colombia: unionism and collective agreement. On one hand, is signed from the employer to its employees in order to establish benefits, as long as they do not unionize. On the other hand, unions begin from the fundamental right to free association and in most cases arises in the initiative of the workers themselves; however, the collective agreement has obtained greater favorability while the number of union members has decreased in recent years. For this reason, an approach was sought from the career paths of bank employees and their experiences with these two figures to analyze the motivations and reasons that led them to join a union or collective agreement. Also, compare their career paths in the objective and subjective dimensions of the work category. The foregoing with the objective of analyzing what are their supports and social challenges in regards to unionism and collective agreement in their career paths since is the worker who is in the middle of these two figures.
