Thesis
The objetive of this investigation is to explain the redefinition of North Korean politic of defense regarding the strengthening of the United States-South Korean alliance during the early XXI century. Since the reinforcement of such alliance, the Pyongyang regime finds the pretext to gather as much power as necessary to safeguard its security to what the State considers is a hostile environment. The theoretical contribution given by John Mearshiemer’s Offensive Realism and the Juche ideology, doctrinaire basis of the North Korean communism, will be used as a main input in order to describe and explain the radical position of the unique dynasty in the history of communism.
