abstract

  • The convulsive 19th century brought with it both political and social tensions surrounding education. Particularly the Educational Reform of 1870, built by the liberals, inaugurated a heated discussion about education as a vehicle for society to create better citizens. Thus, from the concept of Appropriation and the structure given by the theory of Cultural Transfer, this paper analyzes from sources such as La Escuela Normal, Education Reports and School Manuals, how it was possible to choose and import the German Pestalozzian method to education in the United States of Colombia and how it was adapted by some actors, such as the Church and teachers, to its new coordinates of application.
