Today Algrano corn processing plant is conducting the processes of transformation of corn by hand, i.e. outdated machinery, lack of productivity, non-systemic processes, times and inefficient movements and product quality average competitiveness. This is why there is a need for a study of improvement through three scenarios: modernization of the plant, increased work shifts and work variable hours, in order to assess which of the above strategies is that conforms more to improving the shortcomings already mentioned. This complementing the objective of their owners to be at a competitive and sustainable market. Given that according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (2012) corn production and demand in Colombia is increasing. At the same time the economic openness, requires a high level of competitiveness.
