abstract

  • The following paper aims to demonstrate that the Colombian-Peruvian incident in 1932 was a conflict initiated and maintained by the interest in controlling the rubber production of the Am azonic and Putumayo region, and specially the influence of the mighty rubber enterprise, La Casa Arana, more than a conflict born to decide the sovereignty and political control of the amazonic disputed territory. To prove this point of view, the investigation paper starts for the explanation and exposition of the relation between the peruvian people and the rubber dynamics, and how this influences in the historical construction and the habits of the Casa Arana even after its foundation. Later it explains the economical and commercial power and the relations of the Casa Arana in the rubber industry. Finally, having understood the relation between the territory, the economy andthe Casa Arana, the final chapter will demonstrate using the evidence and the analysis of testimonies and documents, the connections, violent actions and influences of the Casa Arana en the beginning and maintenance of the conflict.
