In this degree monograph it is analyzed the use of private military companies in war scenarios and its repercussion in the international regime on the use of force. Private military companies are organizations that nowadays operate on a global scale and that specialize in providing diverse military capacities. Since the early nineties and following the post-Cold War new world order, they have been active in many areas of conflict around the world. This research demonstrates that the international regime governing the use of force is limited, due to the fact that it does not make responsible private actors (non- state actors), such as private military companies. This investigation is an analysis of the mechanisms adopted by the international community in order to address this phenomenon, considering that today, the monopoly of the use of force is not a unique competence of States.
