abstract

  • This project sough to determine the use of the concepts of chaos and complexity among companies in the Colombian financial sector. In order to find the relation and application of those concepts in the different events and crisis that Colombian economy has faced during the last six years.A descriptive method was adopted using a representative company in the Colombian financial sector. Due to its long path in the Colombian economy has demonstrated a good performance, achieving its objectives at a national and international level; Bancolombia was the company chosen for the analysis. The analysis generated a broad and representative vision of what chaos and complexity mean in the financial sector, and how these concepts are applied when it comes to facing extreme conditions in the industry and economy. But also, how variable behavior in other industries affects and influences the natural development of the company. Also we can conclude that Bancolombia is more realistic when it needs to confront periods of crisis. The crisis periods are shown as chaos inside a simple and organized system affecting its different nonlinear variables. Furthermore the system in chaos can have contact with other systems, creating critic and complicated behaviors. As well it is exposed that the complexity in a financial system is a creation of simple interactions, which show a clear parameter. When this parameter interacts with others make a situation that can become into complexity for the organizations as Bancolombia.
