  • Francisco de Vitoria is a philosopher who has been widely studied and recognized as a jurist. However, the analysis of his work involves many aspects that makes him a political philosopher. His study shows a concept of legitimacy that, despite being given within a method proper of medieval scholasticism, gives entry to the study of modern political philosophy. Thus, the concept of vitorian legitimacy, when analyzed under the framework of Max Weber in his study of domination, becomes a kind of hinge that supports in both, medieval and modern philosophy, making the spanish thinker a visionary of modern political philosophy.
