This research paper examined the role of social networks in the process of conforming public opinion in Colombia regarding Juan Manuel Santos government, as its main objective. In order to accomplish the objective of this research, we propose that social networks have worked as a shaping tool of the agenda in Juan Manuel Santos government. The old forms of communication like conversations at coffee houses and discussions face to face had been replaced by online conversations resulting in the modification of the communication process between individuals and also changing the form of public opinion building. In this research, we outline the concepts of public opinion, public sphere and social networks; besides it is necessary the use of qualitative and quantitative tools such as surveys, statistics and graphs.
