  • School of Management from the programs International Business and Management, has been developing research projects aimed at identifying opportunities for Colombian companies against the Free Trade Agreement with the United States. So this study seeks to understand why the United States is Colombia`s main trading partner in terms of exports. In the present study figures of Colombia and the United States are presented from 2012 to 2015, which helped identify, analyze and study the economic relationship, behavior over time and the evolution of both countries. With the entry that had NAFTA, the Colombian government and the US they sought to build trust medium and long term for entrepreneurs. So the work focused on analyzing step by step the main features that made the FTA one of the most important relationships that has had so far, without neglecting the global economic context and the bilateral context. By WISER Trade which is a database of international trade flows, the information needed to determine which are the main business opportunities and determined that the agricultural sector and the industrial sector reflect a high competitiveness of American States was compiled Illinois, Indiana, Idaho, reflecting figures from 2012 to 2015 an increase in exports.
