This dissertation offers a critical view over sustainable development theory and its strategies for mitigation of climate change. The hypothesis here is that there are some fallacies on sustainable development theory that generates wrong environmental global policies; and that Ecological Economics could provide an alternative to this development model, because this perspective offers an explanation over main ecological causes of Climate Change and propose a new political strategy which looks for a dramatic change on mainstreamdevelopment and sustainability logic. Thus, this research is organized around four parts: 1)Explanation of global warming phenomenon and the anthropogenic influence on it; 2)Description of sustainable development theory in international diplomacy on Climate Change 3) Critique of that model from Ecological Economics perspective; 4) Analysis on Ecological Economics theoretical proposal.
