  • Assisted suicide as an option at the end of one´s life up until now is an idea that is being considered, now that there are arguments for and against that has generated controversial debates in the matter. Some arguments against, are based on the religious principles of Christianity, which defend the sacred value of an individual´s life, and the acceptance of suffering as an act of deep love and submission to the commands of God, the creator. On the other hand, there are those who defend the proceedings, encouraging autonomy and self-determination that each person has on their own life. The review of the literature not only broadens both arguments stated in each of these two positions, but also reveals the history of assisted suicide, and the belief that this procedure holds in different countries, including Colombia, and finally, there are the psychological contributions are presented in regards to the procedure under discussion.
