abstract

  • Objectives. Whether the instrument to assess the Cognitive Failures Occupational (Occupational Cognitive Failures Questionnaire - OCFQ) developed by Allahyari T. et al. (2011), it has cross-cultural validity and could be a reliable and valid instrument that can be adapted to the Colombian cultural context. Methodology. We perform the translation, adaptation and validation of the Questionnaire OCFQ the Colombian cultural context, following the recommendations of WHO and subsequently the evaluation of reliability and validity of the instrument adapted in four stages: Stage 1. Translation - retro translation, Stage 2. Debriefing readability and Analysis Stage 3 Content validity, using the Content Validity Index (CVI) and Stage 4. Evaluation metric properties. For the evaluation of construct validity, factor analysis applied by the Principal Component Method and Varimax rotation; internal consistency and temporal stability were assessed by Cronbach's Alpha (α) and test-retest respectively. Results. OCFQ Questionnaire was adapted to the Colombian cultural context; Readability analysis determined that the questionnaire is fairly easy to read. From the original 30-item version a new version of 25 items was obtained. The Content Validity Index (CVI) for the final version adapted OCFQ is acceptable (CVI = 0.84). The results of tests show metrics that the final version adapted OCFQ has a good internal consistency (α = 0.90) and interclass correlation index (ICC) was 0.91 showing a very good temporal stability. Factor analysis established for the Questionnaire OCFQ four factors explain 47% of the total variance. Conclusion. Evaluation of Cognitive Failures in the workplace requires that we have a valid and reliable tool. According to the results in this study we were able to establish that the OCFQ Colombian adapted to the cultural context is a suitable tool for evaluating the Cognitive Failures at work in industrial plants.
