  • Introduction: Chronic pain secondary to musculoskeletal disorders (DME) is a condition that impairs the quality of life of workers who suffer from it, frequently causing functional limitation, injuries, disabilities, high economic costs, work absenteeism, premature retirement, early retirement, greater employee turnover and lower productivity; therefore, it is essential to have a documentary record from which new lines of research focused on workers who will remain working with chronic pain secondary to DME can be generated. General Objective: Identify the factors that influence the productivity of workers with chronic pain secondary to musculoskeletal disorders, according to the scientific literature from 2012 to 2021. Materials and methods: Scope review of 17 studies published in the Pubmed, Elsevier and Scielo databases, full text in English and Spanish, which included the descriptors: Musculoskeletal Disorders AND Work AND Chronic Pain AND Productivity, among 2012 and 2021. Results: 604 records were identified from a single search carried out in databases, finding 17 articles that were included, with a population between 40 and 60 years of age, pain was identified as the main determinant of low productivity and the inclusion of modules as protective factors. job readaptation in vocational rehabilitation, peer support, adequate institutional support and integration into the workplace. Conclusions: Despite the multifactorial origin of the determinants in the development and perpetuation of chronic pain secondary to musculoskeletal disorders, having adequate institutional support and rehabilitation and adaptation systems improves the quality of working life, obtaining greater employee participation. at the time of reinstatement and reducing absenteeism and labor presenteeism.
