This paper conducts a compilation of material written about educational leadership; its social, educational and cultural implications. It also identifies trends that are currently prevailing in educational leadership such as pedagogical leadership and administrative leadership. It also provides an insight into the efforts and the current status of educational leadership in Colombia, in order to determine if there is an effective educational leadership in our country. This work is carried out by collecting the information about the current situation and literature from various countries and commune finding points along them.
