abstract

  • The World Health Organization (WHO) learned of an outbreak of pneumonia in Wuhan (China) on December 31, 2019, so it began to investigate this disease and what caused the outbreak. In this regard, he found that it was SARS-CoV-2, a virus that reached several countries around the world, affecting thousands of people, leaving a large number of fatalities. Thus, on March 11, 2020, the WHO declared Covid-19 a global pandemic, making a series of recommendations in order to mitigate contagion, consisting of avoiding the agglomeration of people, taking into account that “the Covid- 19 is a disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which spreads between people mainly when an infected person is in close contact with another. The virus can be spread through small liquid particles expelled by an infected person through the mouth or nose when coughing, sneezing, talking, singing or snorting. These liquid particles have different sizes, from the largest 'respiratory droplets' to the smallest, called 'aerosols'. Current data suggests that the virus spreads mainly through respiratory droplets between people who are in close contact” (WHO, 2021).
