Between artefacts and critical decisions, reflections on the purposes of high quality accreditation in occupational therapy: A scoping review.

Accreditation represents a reputational mechanism of quality assurance through which academic programmes seek to voluntarily demonstrate not only compliance with educational standards, but also to demonstrate that they respond to social needs with the highest quality in the face of trends of change and innovation. However, in Occupational Therapy, there is little peer-reviewed academic production in this field, which challenges academic communities and trade organisations to intentionally reflect on and guide evidence-based efforts on their aims and mechanisms to gain consensus. Based on a scoping review, this study aims to explore the state of evidence-based knowledge on accreditation processes of occupational therapy programmes by identifying how accreditation criteria align with the realities and needs of the professional field with the current demands of the profession and the main perspectives to guide future actions.
La acreditación, representa un mecanismo reputacional de aseguramiento de la calidad a través del cual, programas académicos buscan demostrar de manera voluntaria no solo el cumplimiento de estándares educativos, sino demostrar que, responden a las necesidades sociales con la más alta calidad, de cara a las tendencias de cambio e innovación. Sin embargo, en Terapia Ocupacional, es escasa la producción académica arbitrada en este campo, lo cual desafía a las comunidades académicas y organizaciones gremiales a reflexionar intencionadamente y a orientar esfuerzos basados en la evidencia sobre sus fines y mecanismos que, permitan ganar en consenso. A partir de una revisión de alcance, este estudio tiene como objetivo explorar el estado del conocimiento basado en la evidencia, sobre procesos de acreditación de programas de Terapia Ocupacional identificando cómo los criterios de acreditación se alinean con realidades y necesidades del campo profesional con las demandas actuales de la profesión y las principales perspectivas que permitan orientar acciones futuras.
