Non-consensual medical interventions and therapies to change the sexual orientation or gender identity of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-sexual, intersexual and queer populations (lgbtiq population) are not an issue of the past. This chapter analyzes whether such non-consensual medical interventions and therapies can constitute, under the Statute of the International Criminal Court, a crime against humanity of persecution on gender or any other ground universally recognized as impermissible under international law.
