abstract

  • Notwithstanding Latin American countries have established strategies of economic openness, particular policies are in force according to food security. These measures are carried out despite structural problems concerning agricultural productivity, such as climate dependence and perishability. In that context, the main objective of this research is to study food imports and food security measures in Latin American and Caribbean countries. Relationships between the main indicators of the agricultural sector and rural development in the region are also studied.
