Las mujeres están subrepresentadas en los cargos de elección popular en Colombia. Esteproyecto se propone contribuir a la comprensión de este fenómeno investigando cuálesson los factores que explican la mayor o menor inclusión de las mujeres en los concejosmunicipales colombianos. Queremos explorar la relación que existe entre la inclusión demujeres a nivel subnacional y algunas características del sistema electoral, niveles deconflicto en el municipio y así como particularidades de las estructuras internas de lospartidos políticos.Para este fin planteamos un proyecto que se apoya en una combinación de análisiscuantitativo y cualitativo. Analizaremos los patrones de composición por sexo de losconcejos municipales de Colombia para el periodo 2016-2024. Parte de la base de datosque hará posible este análisis ya existe (para el periodo 2020-2024), y la otra parte (2016-2020) será construida durante la vigencia de este proyecto. El análisis cuantitativo nospermitirá identificar la influencia que tienen algunas características del sistema electoral,la presencia de actores armados y la competitividad del distrito sobre la representaciónde las mujeres en los concejos municipales de Colombia.El análisis cuantitativo se complementará con un estudio de caso de la experiencia de lasmujeres candidatas al Concejo de Bogotá. Mediante este componente cualitativobuscamos comprender la influencia de los factores organizacionales al interior de lospartidos políticos (como la cultura institucional, la ideología y la existencia de programasde apoyo para candidatas) en el desempeño electoral de las mujeres al concejo enBogotá.
