Documentamos la existencia de una relación entre la adopción y la calidad del servicio de Internet y el terrorismo en Colombia. Encontramos que el terrorismo, medido como ataques terroristas, tiene una relación de patrón en forma de U con la tasa de penetración del servicio de Internet, y una correlación negativa con la calidad medida como la velocidad de descarga. También mostramos que este patrón de relación entre el terrorismo y el servicio de Internet es una correlación histórica en los municipios de Colombia donde ocurrieron los atentados.
We document the existence of a relationship between the adoption and quality of internet service and terrorism in Colombia. We found that terrorism, measured as terrorist attacks, has a U-shaped pattern relationship with the penetration rate of the internet service, and a negative correlation with the quality measured as the download speed. We also show that this pattern of relationship between terrorism and internet service is an historical correlation in the municipalities of Colombia where the attacks happened.
