Este es un proyecto histórico que, utilizando enfoques de la historia y sociología de la cuantificación, busca establecer cómo y por qué y con qué argumentos los médicos y autoridades públicas incorporaron formas de comprensión cuantitativa (estadísticas) de la de dinámica poblacional (estadísticas vitales) y de salud y entre finales del siglo XIX y el siglo XX en Bogotá; las categorías y saberes que se movilizaron para producir estas estadísticas; los grupos sociales que habrían ayudado a consolidar como reales en dicho esfuerzo; los arreglos institucionales y/o profesionales que las hicieron este trabajo posible; y, finalmente, su significado y usos dentro del orden social y político del periodo.
This is a historical project that, using approaches from the history and sociology of quantification, seeks to establish how and why and with what arguments doctors and public authorities incorporated forms of quantitative understanding (statistics) of population dynamics (vital statistics) and health and between the end of the 19th century and the 20th century in Bogotá; the categories and knowledge that were mobilized to produce these statistics; the social groups that would have helped to consolidate as real in said effort; the institutional and/or professional arrangements that made this work possible; and, finally, its meaning and uses within the social and political order of the period.
