Positions

Filipe Antunes Madeira da Silva is professor at the University of Rosario Law Faculty in Colombia. His research explores the connections between international law, development and human rights, focusing on natural resources. His doctoral thesis, completed in 2022 at the Sciences Po Law School, explored the role of international law in natural resources governance, adopting a critical and historical perspective to explain how actors of capitalist expansion mobilised law and legal discourses to structure the emergence of a rubber market in the Amazon at the turn of the 20th century. Filipe has lectured in International Law, Human Rights, and Development at the Universities of Rosario in Colombia, several campuses of the Collège Universitaire of Sciences Po, and the University Paris X-Nanterre in France. He has also worked as a tutor for several years in the Human Rights, Economic Development and Globalisation programme of the Sciences Po Law Clinic.
