The aim of this paper is to contribute to the development of a genealogy and a cartography of the offer of doctoral programs in the field of management in Colombia. In order to do so, an inventory and a balance of relevant sources were made, as well as an exercise of amplification of the voice of key actors significantly linked, in their individual subjective experience, with existing programs today. Interview-based research was used, complemented by documentary analysis of relevant texts and relevant videos. The above, both for the production of the empirical material and for its evaluation, on the general basis of the interpretative phenomenological analysis (AFI). The results allow us to realize the importance of doctoral education in the management field and the existence of its basic typologies, as well as trace its origins globally and in Colombia. These, in addition, facilitate the understanding of their basic characteristics and the identification of the main aspects that have determined their evolution and that, eventually, will also mark their near future.
