abstract

  • Prostate cancer is the most frequent solid neoplasia in men and the second cause of mortality in Colombia. According to histopathological staging, lymph node involvement and patient prognosis, the best therapeutic approach is determined. Even though fact that the therapeutic approach has improved in recent years, complications are still frequent. Erectile dysfunction and urinary incontinence are the most important sequelae in order of frequency of radical prostatectomy. Less frequently, stricture of the urethrovesical anastomosis, proctitis, or stricture of the urethra may occur. They affect the quality of life of patients, so it is important to determine which factors its development and which approach is more related to postoperative complications.
