  • This research aims to consider the clusters in the Colombian pharmaceutical industry, as a mechanism for reducing the cost overruns of the drugs that have dramatically impacted among other causes to the health system, with recoveries (by way of drugs No POS) that surpass the billion pesos. Given the crisis situation facing this regard, the Colombian State has led to propose a fifth reform currently underway in the Congress. This is a qualitative research case study type, in which the Colombian model of Health and figures recoveries of Companies Providing Health Services (CPHS), which represented 0.4% of GDP (Gross Domestic Product is presented) in 2009. To this end, the behavior of recoveries were analyzed during 2012, within ten (10) EPS recognized in the industry. Subsequently the different strategies to generate economies of scale and within, clusters as a possible model to decrease these health costs, its components and its possible incorporation into the Colombian environment analyzes are studied.At the end of the study is set to conclude, that there is sufficient evidence to believe in the benefits of the pharmaceutical cluster within Colombian territory.
