abstract

  • Introduction: Violence has become an everyday issue that makes it difficult to perceive its real dimensions; Johan Galtung explains that structural violence, is the accumulation of all the social burden that generates inequalities, this is reflected through language as it has a cultural connotation (Galtung, 1998). According to the research department Statista, in the first semester of the year 2021, 3,405 cases of abuse of public force were registered, without referring to direct or indirect violence. Objective: analyze the discourse of the Armed Forces and the National Police in formal and non-formal environments, in order to identify markers of social, racial and gender discrimination. Methodology: Thirty samples of videos from the Youtube digital platform with members of the military forces and National Police are transcribed and analyzed in CLAN. Results: the interlocutors made great use of pronouns and adjectives, therefore, it can be a cause of indirect violence, since they say violent language without producing it textually. Discussion: there is a need to create assertive communication programs to improve speeches to the civilian population, so the speech therapist is the ideal professional to provide advice and consultancy on human communication and speech variations.
