  • This study approaches the phenomenon of work addiction (WA) or workaholism in the context of production systems and workplace scenarios in Colombia as a country with an emerging economy, where work becomes essential part of the culture, is regarded as a core value of society and as a means to achieve social mobility and reduce social disadvantages. So that work is an essential and determining factor in the people’s quality of life because its physical, psychological, emotional and social commitment (Polo, Briñez, Navarro, & Ali, 2016). This way, WA spreads its impact to private and family life, therefore; this text delve into understanding this phenomenon in the specific context of economies in which intensification of tasks is a key to ensure competitive business efficiency and in Colombian legal setting.
