  • Introduction: Musculoskeletal disorders are a major cause of absenteeism and generate considerable cost to the system of governance. Objective: To determine the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms in upper limbs and their relation to occupational factors in workers of a call center in Bogota - Colombia during 2015.Methodology: Cross-sectional study where the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms of upper limbs was assessed, was used as the instrument ERGOPAR validated in Spain. Results: The study group was made up 223 workers of a call center where the female was the most frequent (66.8%), the predominant age group was between 21 and 25 years (30.5%). The prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms estimated discomfort was greater in neck / shoulder (57%), followed by symptom hand / wrist (40.8%) and finally elbows (17%); contrary to the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms manifested by pain because it was greater hand / wrist (35%), followed by neck / shoulders (28.3%) and finally elbow (6.7%), the prevalence was higher in female workers than in males. Regarding the variables related to gender, we found that the prevalence for the presence of pain in neck / shoulder workers was higher in females (p = 0.005) in the same way that the presence of pain prevalence hand / wrist (p <0.001).Conclusions: The most prevalent musculoskeletal symptoms in the Call Center workers were in neck / shoulder and hand / wrist more often in female workers. In order to eliminate or reduce the early onset of these symptoms, the implementation of preventive measures aimed not only to workers but to all the factors that are part of the development of their work is recommended.
