abstract

  • This text, as study material, offers readers a review on the neurobiological underpinnings of language, allowing them to approach the understanding of Constraint-Induced Therapy in Aphasia (CITA), since it is one of the interventions in neuro - rehabilitation more effectively proven in recent decades from experimental studies. Originally constraint induced therapy is based on increasing the functional use of a limb (arm or leg) through the restriction of the other free member. This principle helps the functional recovery of expressive language method in patients with aphasia. Similarly, the document retrieves scientific evidence on the effectiveness of this intervention and its forms of implementation. The author also presents a proposal for adaptation of CITA Protocol to the realities of the environment for the provision of health services in Colombia, for its feasibility of application in the clinical practice speech.
