This investigation analyzed 64 publications of violence against women broadcasted by Noticias Caracol during 2016. Among the analysis, variables are the own characteristics of the information as a journalist product, expressive resources used by the television news and the social representation. From the analysis, we could conclude that the media coverage is characterized by its lack of depth, the reproduction of gender stereotypes, ignorance about the true causes of violence and the insistence on turning this violence into a spectacle, among others. The reflections derived from this study sought to contribute to the understanding of media coverage of the Colombian media to this violence based on a premise: gender violence is a violation of women's human rights and its urgent eradication is everyone's responsibility and this includes the media.
