abstract

  • Corruption is a topic that is constantly treated in the media, since it is a criminal dynamic that affects millions of people worldwide. In the Colombian case, the criminal acts related to this crime are observed in public and private entities, with different coverage depending on the actors involved, for this reason this work seeks to observe how the newspapers El Espectador and El Tiempo cover this types of cases when the actors are private. The methodology used for this work is based on a content analysis of both media cited with a specific emphasis on the case known as El cartel del papel which was an act of private corruption that involved large transnational industries that marketed soft paper of daily use. The use of other methodological tools such as the VAP model (Value Added Journalism) and Framing allow us to observe how the information of this media case and its frames are generated. The results show similar characteristics in terms of how the two media cover this type of case, guided mostly by the official source and without a great initiative of their own to investigate, the preponderance of short news content and the little interaction with the media is also evident. the affected. Which generates the discussion of social work and support for the community that journalism really exercises in these cases.
