The implementation of new technologies, specifically those related to Industry 4.0 in transportation logistics, represent an opportunity for improvement in several aspects related to efficiency, effectiveness of the operation of companies, inventory management, product traceability and visibility of the supply chain. By implementing these technologies, they enable the automation of processes, the use of sensors and intelligent devices, and the exchange of data in real time, which facilitates decision making based on accurate and updated information. For this reason, this article proposes a maturity model to evaluate the degree to which different Colombian companies have implemented these technologies in relation to transportation logistics, regardless of their size or particularities. This model produces a clearer vision of the current state of the type of company, allowing to evaluate their level of implementation and to determine the specific areas in which they must improve, with the objective of selecting adequate technologies according to the maturity model to improve their state and their adaptability to the new needs that are presented nowadays, and to reach competitive advantages in the market. The importance of the implementation becomes evident because with it, numerous companies have managed to optimize indicators such as fuel savings, maintenance cost, fleet life time, lead time, among others, depending on the objective of each company and the technology they decide to use based on the result of the maturity model. Therefore, in the article, it can be noted an improvement action in indicators such as risk management, fleet maintenance, adoption of new technologies, organizational culture and structure, and strategies to reduce emissions, through the use of technologies such as telemetry, because this manages to contribute to the growth of the maturity level of freight transportation in Colombia and generate significant improvements in the efficiency and sustainability of operations.
